What is a Neighbourhood Plan?

The Localism Act introduced the statutory framework for neighbourhood planning in 2011. This process enables communities to develop a vision for their neighbourhood and shape its development and growth.

Our Draft Plan sets out specific planning policies to provide clear guidance on the types of development that would be supported in our parish. It also clarifies where development is likely to be supported, by allocating housing sites, defining settlement boundaries, and identifying areas where development is not appropriate. The Plan also covers policies related to biodiversity, housing, design, the local economy, and local green spaces.

The Draft Plan has been prepared by a Working Group comprising members of Rennington Parish Council and other residents from the Neighbourhood Area acting on behalf of the Parish Council.  The Working Group’s Terms of Reference are set out in the PDF below.

The Plan will become part of the Development Plan for the area once the Local Planning Authority has successfully approved it through a referendum. It will then have full weight in determining any future planning applications within our parish.
